Valentine's with Bryan

Jasmine Plant

 I absolutely love plants.  If it was up to me I would have a small jungle in my living room.  I love the way the air smells when I'm surrounded by living green.  I just feel peaceful when there are lots of plants.  Until recently I have just had a few cactus and a pretty fern.  I was given this Jasmine plant by Bryan as a pseudo Valentine's day gift.  This plant is very special.

Valentine's day I spent sick in bed so we did absolutely nothing and there were no gifts either.    (Bryan doesn't believe in V day, so more likely than not we wouldn't have done anything any way.  His argument is that he tells me he loves me 365 days out of the year and the holiday was just made for the lazy guys who only want to have to tell their girl they love her on 1 day a year.  This is fine with me because I like being reminded that he loves me more often than not.)

Recently Bryan's Grandmother passed away.  She was an amazing women who brought joy to the family and friends around her.  Her funeral was the day after Valentine's day.  There was a beautiful service and it was fun for me to meet some of Bryan's cousins.  After the dedication of the grave we went back to the church for a lunch with the whole extended family.  In the gymnasium at the church there were several tables set up.  On each of the tables was one of these beautiful Jasmine plants, they smelled delectable.  They were all in the shape of a heart.  I was trying to figure out what kind of plant they were and admiring them in general so Bryan asked his Aunt what they were.  She then offered us one, if we would like.  Bryan said, "Great, it can be Missy's Valentine's day present."  Such a sweetheart!

So now I have this beautiful plant with a heavenly aroma in my room.  The greatest thing about it is every time we look at it we can think of Bryan's amazing Grandmother and the life she lived.  We may even get to be reminded about our first Valentine's as a married couple.
